The Livingston Library seeks accomplished interns and volunteers from MLIS Graduate Programs to assist in various projects in the library. Start and end dates are flexible, and students must commit one full day per week. The Livingston Library is open 8:30-4:30 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and open from 12-8 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Internships are unpaid, but hours can be used for educational credit.
Students may choose to focus on one, or a combination, of the following aspects of librarianship:
-Archives: Students will learn how to process and re-house 19th and 20th century material, which will result in inventory lists and finding aids. These inventory lists and finding aids can be used in students’ portfolio, as an example of their work. Students will also have the opportunity to contribute images and blogs to our Social Media accounts.

Students will catalogue, photograph, and conduct data entry for our
Masonic Apron and Fabric Collection. This collection will provide
students with the opportunity to handle material that dates back to the
1700s. Students will also be given the opportunity to design and mount
an exhibit, in one of our cases.
-General Library:
Students will have the opportunity to actively participate in
daily library activities. These activities include: interacting directly
with visitors and researchers, basic reference, stack management, and
