The Brooklyn Law School Library is pleased to announce two paid library fellowship opportunities for the Spring 2023 Semester. This new fellowship program is designed to provide current library students with opportunities to perform foundational work in public services, reference, archives, and digital collections. Under the guidance of the Director of the Law Library and the Associate Librarian for Public Services, the library fellows program aims to provide fellows with valuable training and experience, while enabling the library to pursue new projects.
Position: Library Fellow
Reports To: Associate Librarian for Public Services
Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt, On-Site Work Environment.
Salary Range: $15 per hour
Start Date: January 2023
Summary:
Founded in 1901, Brooklyn Law School is a distinguished, independent law school located in Brooklyn Heights, New York. The Law School is searching for a Public Service Assistant to serve both the community and library needs by supporting a variety of teams, including, circulation, reference, and library IT. The Law School’s size, vibrant employee and student population, and commitment to providing the best legal education, will offer a candidate the opportunity to develop and diversify practical skills and participate firsthand in the business of operating a successful educational institution.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Helps staff and manage the circulation desk. May require working in the evening.
· Provides reference service and support to faculty, students, and alumni.
· Develops expertise in all research databases to which the library subscribes.
Qualifications:
· Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited Master’s degree program in Library Science or Information Science.
· Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
· Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team.
· Ability to prioritize projects as needed.
· Previous customer service experience is preferred, but it is not required.
· Candidates possessing a J.D. are also preferred, but a J.D. is not required.
**Please note previous experience working in a library is not required. This is an entry level opportunity to give current students an opportunity to gain experience working in an academic law library.

Job Title: Archive Intern, 1 position (Department of Vertebrate Paleontology)
Responsibilities and Duties:
The intern will participate in an IMLS-funded project to catalog the Vertebrate Paleontology Archive in order to broaden access to the collection. The intern will work in a team of two, under the supervision of the Project Archivist and AMNH collections and Research Library staff, on processing tasks to meet the goals of the work plans set for various areas of the project. These tasks will include cataloging unprocessed materials; assisting with the creation of finding aids; working through materials to flag them for future conservation, re-housing and digitization in future grant projects; and contributing to social media outreach.
The internship period runs for 24 months; this position requires a minimum commitment of 15 consecutive weeks, working one to two days a week. Work on this internship can only be performed onsite at the AMNH. Preference may be given to candidates who can commit to more than one consecutive semester. A stipend will be provided as support over the internship period.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants should be enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a Library and Archives graduate program, or enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Paleontology program with experience working in an archive collection. Proficiency in the use of Mac- and PC-based software, good organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently are crucial. Awareness and interest in current developments of data standards, trends and emerging technologies in the field of archives and records management. Comfort taking the initiative in new settings and knowing when to ask adept questions. Experience working in museum collections a plus.

National Library of Medicine Associate Fellows (Remote)
The National Library of Medicine (NLM) seeks early and second-career librarians within five years of graduation interested in advancing equitable and innovative futures for biomedical libraries to participate in a one-year fellowship that fosters the development of librarians seeking to lead in medical or health sciences libraries.
What will I be doing?
As a National Library of Medicine Associate Fellow, you will:
- Select and manage projects ranging from operations to research and development, project
opportunities are in data and open science, vocabularies and ontologies, scholarly communication, user engagement, and training
- Grow professionally and learn in a cohort, participating in a formal curriculum taught by staff experts
- Develop skills in data science (analysis, visualization)
- Develop foundations in leadership (presenting, network building)
- Receive support from experienced mentors
- Attend a professional conference and a one-week practicum at a health sciences library
The NLM Associate Fellowship Program (AFP) offers staff-taught sessions in library operations, research and development, intramural and extramural research, and development, the lifecycle of NLM web-based products and services, and the NLM engagement and education program. Associate Fellows develop a national and international perspective of the NLM’s role in health science and biomedical science. Associate Fellows choose projects to collaborate on and complete with NLM staff allowing them to gain valuable project experience in areas that aid their future careers. Associate Fellow projects have led to peer-review publications and services that became a part of the services and products of NLM.
Appointment Length
This is a one-year research appointment starting July 1, 2023, and ending June 30, 2024.
Participant Benefits
Annual stipend of $61,947
Health Insurance Supplement - Health Insurance Supplement – The program offers a stipend for participants to purchase health insurance through a group health insurance plan via Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE). Alternatively, participants may choose to hold outside insurance. Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. Participants can purchase health insurance through Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE).
Training and Travel Allowance that can be used for attendance at local and national conferences and other relevant training materials as determined by NLM and ORISE.
Nature of Appointment
The 2023 - 2024 Associate Fellowship Program year will be virtual. Program hours will be 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, Eastern time.

The Sony Music Entertainment Archives, located in the SONY Building at 25 Madison Ave. in Manhattan, houses the archival materials for Sony’s music companies. Sony Music is the parent company for the two oldest recorded music companies in the world, Columbia and RCA Victor, as well as other companies such as Arista and Zomba Records.
The Archives maintains historic documentation, an extensive library of photographic and other visual materials, an LP and CD library, and other various company materials.
The Archives is seeking an intern for Winter 2023. The intern will perform various library related tasks, including but not limited to: cataloging of documents and books; organizing and reshelving collections of documents, lps, and cds; and organizing, documenting, and archivally re-housing large segments of the company’s photo collection.
PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY
In order to participate in our paid internship program, you must:
• Be enrolled in a matriculated program, in pursuit of an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Graduate degree at an accredited institution and provide Official Transcript documentation of your degree progress.

Job Description: The American Trust for the British Library (ATBL) seeks a student intern to work on an archival digitization project. This is a great opportunity for a current graduate student to work on a small digitization and access project from beginning to end.
The American Trust for the British Library is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that promotes and supports the work of the British Library, one of the world’s greatest research libraries. The ATBL seeks to foster transatlantic understanding through events, lectures, and discussion in the United States and in the United Kingdom, as well as through fundraising and incremental financial support and gifts in-kind that help the British Library fulfill its collecting, preservation, and outreach missions.
Qualifications required: Must have a B.A. and be enrolled in a graduate-level library science or Archives program with demonstrated knowledge of archival principles and best practices. Open to recent graduates of an MLIS or Archives program. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents.
Project description: The American Trust for the British Library Archive consists of 6 boxes of paper materials (6 linear feet) of the business and historical records of the ATBL, and includes financial and legal records, correspondence, grants and foundations information, publications, photographs, event invitations, and other materials generated by the organization between 1979 and 2020. The Grolier Club Library is the official repository for the ATBL records.
In preparation for the ATBL’s upcoming website redesign, the Archives Intern will inventory, digitize, and catalogue photographs and other visual materials (such as programs and brochures) from its archival collection. The work must be performed on site at the Grolier Club Library, located at 47 East 60th Street, New York, NY. This is a part-time position ideal for a graduate student.
The ATBL will provide a document scanner to be used for the purpose of this project. The intern will need to provide their own laptop.
Supervised by: Administrative and Communications Coordinator & Executive Director
Payment and Terms of Internship: The intern will receive $15 per hour and will work 5–8 hours per week for approximately 6 weeks. Starting and ending dates are negotiable but the work should be completed by February 2023. The intern will account for their hours on a document supplied by the ATBL.
