Wildlife Conservation Society - Cataloger
Temporary position (1 month) – Cataloger – Wildlife Conservation Society Cambodia Office
The Wildlife Conservation Society is seeking a motivated MLS student or recent graduate to catalog and index our national office Library in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
This one month position will require the candidate to sort and catalog the collection of books, periodicals and grey literature used by present and former field staff of WCS, as well as outside conservation researchers. The catalog system is a “home-grown” database system of WCS, but correct bibliographic entry and subject analysis are essential to the project. The candidate will work with the Cambodian staff as well as the Library Director in New York to best process this collection, so as to serve as a benchmark for future information expansion within WCS.
WCS will provide travel to Phnom Penh and lodging, as well as a basic per diem for food and sundries.
Ideally we are looking for someone to complete this during the Summer of 2009, but we will look at later dates, depending on applicants.
Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of descriptive cataloging, subject analysis and metadata
Familiarity with relational databases
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
If interested, please send resume to Dan Cherubin at dcherubin@wcs.org
