Intern, Records Management
Job Summary:
Responsible for analyzing, organizing, inventorying, and indexing NYCEDC department files. His or her mission is to assist the departments in the timely access, retrieval, storage, and maintenance of records.
Summary of essential job functions:
• Organize and maintain hard-copy records onsite within the NYCEDC’s records tracking application, including the labeling of boxes and file folders
• Process archive boxes for transfer to offsite storage. Perform document imaging when necessary
• Fulfill employee requests for files and/or information
• Audit data entry and circulation information
• Follow standard operating procedures and communicate potential efficiency enhancing ideas to senior management
Minimum requirements:
• Basic computer skills
• Keen attention to detail and good communication skills, both written and oral
• Ability to work on several projects at the same time and under pressure
Abilities required:
• Ability to lift a 25 lbs. box

The Records Management Department develops and implements policies and procedures to identify, retrieve, share and maintain NYCEDC’s documents, files and drawings. This ensures the security of its critical records and enables their safekeeping for disaster protection. We provide convenient access to records regarding properties NYCEDC manages and sells on behalf of the City of New York and projects in which NYCEDC is involved.

Internship in cataloging at the Anti-Defamation League
A chance to work with professionals at one of the country’s premier human relations civil rights organizations. ADL is dedicated to stopping the defamation of the Jewish people and to securing justice and fair treatment for all.
ADL’s Library, Archive and Research Center is looking for an energetic, creative MLS candidate to fill an internship position in cataloging. The position is unpaid, but we will work with your university to ensure that you receive credit toward the degree. Preference will be given to candidates with experience and/or course work in cataloging. Hours and the start and end dates for the internship will be mutually agreed upon. ADL is located in midtown Manhattan.
Projects include:
Copy and original cataloging of books, pamphlets, electronic documents and DVDs using LC classification
Design and implementation of systems for special collections
Taxonomy development

Internship at Catalyst, Inc.
Catalyst is seeking an MLIS student seeking credit for an unpaid internship in its Information Center (IC). The IC librarians respond daily to the requests of Catalyst members, academic and nonprofit organizations, professional associations, researchers, writers, and the media.
Because the IC provides such a variety of services to its users, interns will have the opportunity to work on various aspects of librarianship, including the following:
· Research projects regarding gender diversity in business
· Cataloging articles and reports using modified MARC formatting for the IC catalog
· Developing new/updating existing Quick Takes, a series of statistics-based overviews of topics such as women in the labor force, women of color, work/life balance, working mothers, women in various geographies, etc. (View the Quick Takes here: http://www.catalyst.org/browse/0/0/0/14/0 )
· Assisting the librarians to answer reference questions as needed
The length of the internship and weekly work schedule are flexible, and interns may work from home for certain tasks of the internship. Virtual interns will also be considered. Interns are required to have a basic understanding of library functions and have taken at least one class in cataloging and reference. Interns must be motivated, possess initiative, be technologically savvy, and be able to work independently. Though welcome, previous library work experience is not required and on-the-job training will be provided as part of the internship. This internship is open only to those MLIS students seeking credit for an internship.
