Wildlife Conservation Society - 2 positions
The Wildlife Conservation Society has 2 internship/volunteer opportunities available.
1. Serials inventory –
Create a complete inventory of serials received by the WCS Library in print and online. The WCS Library provides online access to over 800 journals to its staff worldwide. It also holds over 200 print titles which may need to be added to our library management system or the holdings in the LMS updated. This inventory will also allow the Director to determine retention.
Potential candidates should have an interest or experience in serials management and serials cataloging, and the ability to work on one's own. Our library management system is Millennium by Innovative. This project requires knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and the ability to organize and inventory a dispersed collection of print serials as well as a large collection of online journals.
2. Health Center Cataloging project –
Inventory and catalog the contents of the WCS Health Center library for import into the Library's library management system (Millennium by Innovative).
The Health Center Library at WCS contains medically relevant books and periodicals required by the Society's veterinary staff. This material needs to be imported into the WCS Library's library management system including updates, corrections and new entries.
Potential candidates should have an interest or experience in cataloging, experience using Excel spreadsheets and the ability to work on one's own.
********
The Wildlife Conservation Society saves wildlife and wild places worldwide. We do so through science, global conservation, education, and the management of the world’s largest system of urban wildlife parks, led by the flagship Bronx Zoo. Together these activities change attitudes toward nature and help people imagine wildlife and humans living in harmony. WCS is committed to this mission because it is essential to the integrity of life on Earth.
TO APPLY: Interested candidates should send their resumes to library@wcs.org indicating which position you are applying for in the subject field. Both positions are for credit or volunteering only.
