P/T - Social Media Intern - VoxGov (Manhattan)

Looking for an opportunity to flex your social media muscles? Then don’t miss this chance to work with a rapidly growing start-up within the government and politics sphere. Right now, we are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking Social Media Outreach interns to help spread the word about our company.  Use your online expertise to tout our business, services and products across the Internet via social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. In addition, the right candidate will provide valuable assistance to our internal production, blogging and sales teams.
Our company is currently focused on increasing our engagement and profile on social media channels and tracking metrics to determine success; YOU can be a part of this important process. To help us tackle these challenges, we are looking for interns who have a love for the Internet and social media, want to learn more about politics, public policy and government, and have the skills and desire to  help us grow our business.

Position Description:
  • Assist with social media marketing strategy and publishing.
  • Research and distribute social media posts and related content.
  • Use social media as networking vehicle to aid the sales and marketing team.
  • Create and distribute analytics reports for internal stakeholders to track adoption and engagement.
  • Research technology solutions that can add value to the company's marketing mission.
  • Complete special related projects as needed.
Qualifications:

  • Ability to receive course credit for your internship work
  • Ability to commit to 10 hours a week preferred, with flexibility regarding terms and hours
  • Understanding of Internet trends and technologies.
  • Technical and journalistic writing skills specific to social media platforms (including Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and LinkedIn).
  • Excellent writing, research and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Skill in identifying, tracking and analyzing trends as they appear on social channels.
  • Must be highly organized, very detailed and an excellent communicator via email, phone and online chat (Skype).
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics, Hootsuite (and Nimble a plus).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle a variety of assignments simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and accountability.
  • Public relations and outreach experience a plus.
The position is unpaid for academic credit and is 10-15 hours a week
