Rutherford Public Library

The Rutherford Public Library,Rutherford, NJ, is seeking a customer-focused library intern to join its dynamic team. Gain valuable on-the-job experience while working under the direction of our professional librarians in a diverse community that loves its public library.

Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in an ALA accredited library school.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated commitment to public service.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Word, online catalog, and database searching.
  • Ideal candidates will have at least one year before the completion of their degree and may continue to work as an intern for up to six months after a degree is ganted.


Description:

  • Answers reference questions and provides reader's advisory services to adults and teens.
  • Assists patrons with basic computer functions including use of Internet search engines, email, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Provides individual and small group instruction on the use of library resources.
  • Assists Reference Librarian with interlibrary loans through JerseyCat.

    15-hours per week with flexible scheduling. Hours may include a combination of weekday mornings, afternoons, and evenings, and one full Saturday per month. $15.85 per hour. Pro-rated days off after 6 months of service.
