P/T - Archives Internship - Performa Arts (NYC)


This internship is ideal for an individual interested in a future career in Library Sciences.  You will be heavily involved in cataloging the Performa archives and helping create finding aids and the overall structure of our 10 year archive.  Additionally you will be involved in research for upcoming exhibitions and publications - gaining invaluable experience in research, cataloging, and publication.  
 
Overview of Tasks
-Assist with research and development for upcoming Performa Biennial
-General research on performance, exhibitions, and public programs
-Assist with updating images and documentation in the Performa archives
-Library research
-Organizing, managing, and updating of artist and curatorial files, physical and digital
-Writing of artist research texts and project summaries
-Help to organize material including texts and images to be used on the Performa website
 
General Requirements
-Strong knowledge of contemporary art, new media, and performance internationally
-Familiarity with library and archiving protocols
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Strong organizational skills
-Fluency in the Mac computer platform with MS Office and Adobe
 
Unpaid internship. Minimum of 3 days a week, 10 am to 6 pm. 3-5 days ideal.  Position may include some evening and weekend events.  Full academic credit available.
