P/T - Archival Internship - CUNY TV (NYC)

Serving the New York area for nearly 30 years, CUNY TV is the largest public university station in the United States. Based at the CUNY Graduate Center, the channel produces and broadcasts unique and educational programs with topics ranging from science, public affairs, business and science. The CUNY TV archive maintains the stations vast tape library, digital assets and the overall production history of the station. The CUNY TV archive is also the home to much of the audiovisual material produced by the City University of New York and the Himan Brown Radio Archive, a collection that includes the personal papers, scripts, photographs and audio-visual material related to the famed radio director and producer.

An internship with CUNY TV provides students with a great opportunity to learn more about and participate in digitization, collection management, digital preservation, and media cataloging. It also gives students the chance to work with a variety of analog and digital audiovisual formats. Interns will learn how to properly catalog, store and preserve different media formats. They will also have the opportunity to work on a number of projects including collection inventory, born-dgiital processing, access, and assessment along with ongoing audiovisual digitization projects.

Students interested in experiencing how an audiovisual archive functions in a busy broadcast and production environment are encouraged to apply. This internship is for credit only.
