P/T - digital asset management volunteers needed - Metropolitan Museum of Art (Manhattan)
The Digital Asset Management Group, Collection Information, Department of Digital Media at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is looking for current college seniors and graduate students who are interested in volunteering from July 1, 2015-June 31, 2016. Under the supervision of professional staff, volunteers will gain first-hand experience by assisting with special projects that range from working digital content related to the museum, and participating in digitization projects. Cataloguing opportunities and additional responsibilities are also a possibility.
The Digital Asset Management Group of the Department of Collection Information is responsible for the oversight and management of all digital assets in the Museum’s digital asset management system, establishing metadata requirements for cataloguing of relevant digital assets within the DAM, streamlining the deployment of digital assets from the DAM to the CMS, overseeing the application customization and integration with other systems.
We are a very busy department and can offer a variety of work for anyone intrigued by an alternative library experience.
This volunteer opportunity should ideally begin as soon as possible and ideally would be from July 1, 2015-June 31, 2016 and be a minimum seven hours (ideally one work day) day per week. Additional hours could be considered. The department is only open Monday-Friday, 9:00-5:00 and closed on the weekends.
Volunteers will be eligible for discounts at the Museum’s public restaurant, Membership Dining Room, the Museum’s retail stores, and free admission to all other New York City art museums.
If interested in applying, the deadline is July 31, 2015. All materials should be compiled by the applicant and mailed together and include the following:
• Resume and Cover Letter
• Proposed begin dates
• Availability for an in-person interview
APPLICANTS SHOULD SUBMIT MATERIALS TO:
