Artist's Library Internship


Summer 2016



The Hedda Sterne Foundation is looking for a self-motivated and detail-oriented

individual to assist in cataloging and organizing the library of the artist Hedda

Sterne (American, b. Romania 1910-2011). The library collection includes

approximately 100 linear feet of books and ephemera, including some rare and

unique volumes. The Library Intern will work closely with Foundation staff to

begin the first-ever inventory of the library collection, and help initiate a program

for the ongoing care of the collection. Tasks will include:


· sorting, organizing, and cataloging books in our library

· entering data into our collections database

· assessing books for condition issues, and in some cases rehousing fragile


or damaged items

· assisting the Foundation staff in developing a plan for the ongoing care of


the library


The successful candidate must possess excellent organizational and

communication skills and have a strong attention to detail. Experience with

Microsoft Excel is necessary. Ideal candidates will be enrolled in a MLS or artsrelated

degree program, and able to commit to two days per week, 10-5pm for at

least 8 weeks. This internship is based in our New York City office.
