Digital Commons Summer Internship, Molloy College (Long Island)
Digital Commons Summer Internship - 2 days a week - starting mid/late June.
Please note: Any candidates applying for this opportunity must be enrolled in an ALA Accredited MLS Progam and meet the requirements of that institution to participate in this program.
The Intern will work under the supervision of the Serials & Media librarian librarian who is the Curator of the Digital Commons@Molloy. The goal of this project is to digitize the historic nursing collection on behalf of the Barbara Hagan School of Nursing.
The intern will work directly with rare items such as books, photographs, nursing tools, uniforms, and other ephemera. The project will be divided into 3 parts: photographing items or scanning photographs, assigning metadata & descriptions to the images, uploading images plus data to the digital commons.
During the internship, similar projects may arise and there will also be exposure to the various projects and activities that take place during the summer in an academic library. This will include, but is not limited to, book deselection, serials & media management, mentored reference shifts (including chat), and technical services back office activities (ILL/Reserves). We're seeking candidates specializing or interested in archives, rare books, special collections, or academic libraries.
Applications will be accepted until May 25, 2017.
Please visit the library website for more information on our departments and service offerings.
Please e-mail a resume and short cover letter to Tabitha Ochtera or mail to:
