P/T - Paid Internship at the Anti-Defamation League (Midtown)



PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Assists in managing approximately 225 subscriptions to newspapers and magazines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary:
      Keeps necessary records for all subscriptions, including receipt and ordering information, using specialized library software

      Scans and OCRs issues of most subscriptions using library equipment

      Communicates with periodical vendor and publishers to solve problems.

      Distributes issues to researchers and/or files them in the library

      For issues ready to go to the warehouse, enters information onto an Excel spreadsheet and packages them for preservation.
Secondary:
      Assists with other archiving and library projects, as needed.

HOURS AND DURATION OF JOB:

10-12 hours/week for 5-6 months.


SUPERVISION:

Supervision is provided by the Asst Manager of the Library & Archives Dept. 

QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills:
      Document digitization
      Office applications, especially Excel
      Familiarity with serials management software is a plus.
Work Experience:
      Experience working in an office environment.

      Experience working in a library or archive is preferred.
Education:
      MLS candidate

      Course work in library technical services a plus
