City College of New York: Division of Archives and Special Collections Summer Intern

The Division of Archives and Special Collections of the City College of New York is seeking an intern for the July-August 2013 period.  This Division of the Morris R. Cohen Library established in 1960 has holdings which include collections documenting instruction, teaching, research and student life at the College through institutional records, publications, memorabilia, faculty papers, photographs, blueprints and media.  Biographical information is collected regarding distinguished alumni, including nine Nobel Laureates.  These materials actively serve the City College community and are of continuing interest to scholars studying the history and
sociology of higher education, as well as to biographers.  The City College of New York, founded in 1847, is the oldest campus of the  City University of New York.

The assignment would be to process a collection of approximately 15 linear feet of paper-based material.  This would be for twenty hours a week over eight weeks during the summer, schedule to be arranged Monday through Thursday.  The internship could be either for course credit or paid at the rate of $12.00 per hour.

For those interested please contact Professor Sydney Van Nort to arrange an interview at the address below or via telephone at 212-650-7609 or via e-mail at svannort@ccny.cuny.edu.
