P/T - Cataloging Internship - Museum of the City of New York, Ephemera Collections (NYC)
The Museum of the City of New York seeks student Interns to work in conjunction with a project to process, catalog, digitize, and rehouse the Ephemera Collections of the Museum of the City of New York. The interns will work alongside one part-time employee and the Museum's Assistant Director of Collections to process over 6500 objects in order to prepare them for digitization. Tasks include but are not limited to conducting condition assessments, recording dimensions and locations, and re-housing. Interns will be trained by the Project Manager, and have the opportunity to become familiar with the Cataloging Cultural Objects (CCO) data content standard, gain experience in object handling, and obtain first-hand knowledge of the steps involved in a large digitization process. Interns will also create complete catalog records with descriptive and physical metadata for those objects exuded from the digitization process that will not be accessible to the public, but only internally to the Museum staff.

P/T - Archival Intern - The American Folk Art Museum (Lincoln Center, Manhattan)
The American Folk Art
Museum (AFAM) is currently accepting applications for an archival intern for
the Spring 2015 semester. The AFAM archives is currently undergoing a major
processing and cataloging project as we prepare for the opening of our new Folk
Art Annex and Study Center in 2015. Internships are unpaid, but we will happily
work with graduate programs to arrange for academic credit. The intern should
be able to commit to at least one full day a week, from approximately January
through May 2015.
Projects will be varied,
and may include, but are not limited to:
- Helping to prepare
archival material to move to our new location
- Surveying collections
(including creating preliminary inventories and processing plans)
- Processing and
rehousing paper and photograph collections
- Creating accession and
resource records in ArchivesSpace
- Writing finding aids
The archival internship
is open to students currently enrolled in an ALA-accredited Master of Library

The New York City Department of Records and Information Services (DORIS) mission is to foster civic life by preserving and providing access to the historical and current records of New York City government, to ensure City records are properly maintained following professional archival and record management practices, and to make materials available to diverse communities both online and in person at the Municipal Library, Archives and Visitor Center. The Municipal Archives Division is responsible for preserving and providing access to more than 250,000 cubic feet of records.
The NYC DORIS, Municipal Archives Division is currently accepting applications for ongoing internships. Ideal candidates will be currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Sciences. Familiarity with New York History, Archival Studies, or related fields considered a plus. Individuals who have taken coursework in cataloging, rare books, conservation, archival management, and/or digital preservation are strongly encouraged to apply.

Interns will work in a variety of departments focusing on projects involving processing, conservation, and digitization. The Rights and Permissions
Group/Department of Digital Media of The Metropolitan Museum of Art is looking
for current college seniors and graduate students who are interested in
applying for an unpaid internship for the spring 2015 semester. Under the
supervision of professional staff, interns will gain first-hand experience by
cataloguing digital content related to the museum’s intellectual property, and
participating in special projects.
The Rights and Permissions
Group is responsible for the oversight and management of all copyright
information in the Museum’s digital asset management system, and establishing
metadata standards and requirements for cataloguing of relevant digital assets
within the DAM.
We are a very busy department
and can offer a variety of work for anyone intrigued by an alternative library
experience.
The spring Internship
will be from mid-January to mid-May. Standard internship requirements
would be a minimum of at least two full days (14 hours) per week during
business hours. The department is only open Monday-Friday, 9:00-5:00, and
closed on the weekends.
Interns will be eligible for
employee discounts at the Museum’s public restaurant, Membership Dining Room,
the Museum’s retail stores, and free admission to all other New York City
museums.

The CUNY Graduate School of Journalism Research Center is dedicated to providing students and faculty with the latest research training, tools and resources for journalists. We are seeking an unpaid intern for a one-semester appointment of 10-15 hours per week. The intern will report to the Library Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will provide assistance with metadata/indexing/taxonomy for a digital archive of the school’s photos and videos, as well as for Campus Wire, a central site for news published by journalism programs across CUNY campuses. The candidate will also gain some experience in cataloging, circulation, reserves, and interlibrary loan services; maintaining the Research Center Website and Capstone Archive; marketing Research Center services via social media; and other duties and special projects as assigned by the Chief Librarian.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must:

P/T - Archival Internship - CUNY TV (NYC)
Serving the New York area for nearly 30 years, CUNY TV is the largest public
university station in the United States. Based at the CUNY Graduate Center, the
channel produces and broadcasts unique and educational programs with topics
ranging from science, public affairs, business and science. The CUNY TV archive
maintains the stations vast tape library, digital assets and the overall
production history of the station. The CUNY TV archive is also the home to much
of the audiovisual material produced by the City University of New York and the
Himan Brown Radio Archive, a collection that includes the personal papers,
scripts, photographs and audio-visual material related to the famed radio
director and producer.
An internship with CUNY TV provides students with a great opportunity to learn more about and participate in digitization, collection management, digital preservation, and media cataloging. It also gives students the chance to work with a variety of analog and digital audiovisual formats. Interns will learn how to properly catalog, store and preserve different media formats. They will also have the opportunity to work on a number of projects including collection inventory, born-dgiital processing, access, and assessment along with ongoing audiovisual digitization projects.
Students interested in experiencing how an audiovisual archive functions in a busy broadcast and production environment are encouraged to apply. This internship is for credit only.

The Felix Gonzalez-Torres Foundation is accepting applications for
a motivated, detail-oriented intern who is eager to learn and can work well
individually and as part of a focused team.
Candidates may complete this internship in conjunction with
upper-level undergraduate or graduate coursework in programs such as art
history, information science, or archival management. Prior experience with the
methods of collection management and provenance research would be an asset.
Duties will vary within the daily operations of the Foundation,
however this internship is being offered in conjunction with a large archival

The Frank and Peggy
Steele Internship Program for Youth Leadership Development provides meaningful,
hands-on training in numerous professional careers including research, photo
archives, technical services, exhibit design, membership, education, archives
and collections management, recorded media, development, special events,
programs and events, multi-media, publications, and public relations. In
addition, interns learn and work in the company of baseball's best-known
personalities during the annual Hall of Fame Weekend and Induction Ceremony,
held in Cooperstown each summer.

students must have completed at least their sophomore year and be enrolled in a
bachelor's or master's degree program at a college or university during the

Library. Assisted by a student worker from college, the Intern will work on processing
prioritized record groups and series, and assist in producing a finding aid that will be made
available to researchers and the general public.
The intern’s duties will include:
● Processing collection utilizing MPLP approach and rehousing material in new archival
folders and boxes.
● Address basic physical preservation needs and make recommendations for
materials requiring further conservation work.
● Research history/background of Hall of Fame. Key moments to be described in the
finding aid, in accordance with DACS and other professional standards.
● Provide description and enter into CMS for finding aid.

P/T - Archives and Records Management Internship - ACLU National Office Archives (Manhattan)
The
Archives and Records Management Office of the ACLU National Office, located in
downtown Manhattan, is seeking interns for the spring of 2015.
The
ACLU National Archives maintains records from the founding of the organization
in 1920 and does its part to support the ACLU's mission to defend the
U.S. Constitution, in particular the Bill of Rights. The primary goal of
the Archives is to ensure access to our paper and electronic records
through the application of sound records management and archival principles. In
collaboration with the administrative, financial, legal, technical, and
business staff of the organization, we seek to store, manage,
and retrieve records throughout their life cycle, from creation to
either disposal or retention. In addition to the 2,000 cubic feet of records we
keep onsite, we have an extensive collection of ephemera, publications,
photographs, and audiovisual materials.
We
are looking for interns to assist on a variety of projects, including, but not
limited to:
- Digitizing paper collections
- Processing archival collections
- Cataloging
- Updating existing finding aids for ongoing collections
- Developing research and reference skills
Additional
projects will be assigned to interns based upon their interests and experience.
Students with an interest in archives and records management centers in

The Lesbian Herstory
Archives (located in Park Slope, Brooklyn, NYC) is looking for students
who are interested in gaining library and/or archives experience with a
demonstrated interest in Lesbian Studies, History and Activism. We have a
number of exciting ongoing projects for the upcoming academic year. Students
must be currently enrolled in an M.L.S., Archival or DAM studies program to
apply. This is an unpaid internship opportunity.
What
We're Offering- Interns will have the opportunity for

will work in a team with professional web developers to overhaul the LHA

with introduction level CSS/HTML coding is required. Experience using Square Space (or a similar web development platform)

P/T - Spring Library Internship - Oskar Diethelm Library at Weill Cornell Medical College (Manhattan)
The Oskar Diethelm Library is a special
collection devoted to the history of psychiatry. It is part of Weill Cornell Medical College's Institute for
the History of Psychiatry. The Library collection includes some 50,000 items dating from the 15th to the 20th century, in nearly every possible format,
including rare books, serials, archives and manuscripts,
photographs, prints, sound and video recordings, and other ephemera. Materials relate to psychiatry,
psychology, psychoanalysis, mesmerism, spiritualism, phrenology, witchcraft and other topics.
Archival holdings include the papers of numerous organizations and individuals.
This internship will involve gathering,
organizing, and cataloging the library’s audio visual collections, including cassette tapes, videotapes, CDs,
DVDs and other media formats. Cataloging will be done in PastPerfect, a collection management
software system. No prior experience using PastPerfect software is necessary. This is a good opportunity
for a motivated student who wants to be involved with a project from start to finish. The intern will also
have some say in the planning of the project and how it is carried out. The intern should be willing to help
with other library and archives related tasks as they come up.
Prospective interns should be enrolled in
an advanced degree program in Archival Administration or Library and Information Studies with an
interest in archives. Previous experience in library or archives preferred but not
required. Reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work
independently are essential. The internship will be during
normal business hours, at least 8 hours a week preferred. The internship is unpaid but can be done for
course credit.

Responsibilities:
