P/T - Archival Internship - Poppenhusen Institute (Queens)
The Poppenhusen Institute in College Point, Queens, is currently seeking a library school student interested in an archives internship. The intern will have the opportunity to gain experience in processing archival materials and artifact collections, responding to research requests, digitizing materials, promoting collections via social media, assisting with the development of new exhibits, and other projects. Projects will vary according to an individual’s skill set and interests.

The Poppenhusen Institute is a 501(c)3, non-profit institution that has offered educational, cultural, and recreational programs to the community since 1868 and is home to the first free kindergarten in the United States. As an historic institution, the Institute preserves the organizational records of the Conrad Poppenhusen Association and the Poppenhusen Institute, as well as records, photographs and artifacts documenting the local community. Requirements
Candidates should be currently enrolled in a masters program for library
science or recent graduates. Students with a focus in archival studies
are encouraged to apply. Hours are flexible, approximately 10 hours
per week. Internships are unpaid, but may be used for course credit.
