P/T - Knowledge Management Internship - FINCA International (NJ)
FINCA International’s Knowledge Management Department is seeking a student for a Knowledge Management-Library Science Practicum. In accordance with the principal purpose of a practicum, the student will work in an information setting under the direction and guidance of a skilled professional. This experience offers an opportunity to test professional skills and to re-examine concepts and theories against the conditions in which libraries and information centers must operate in the twenty-first century in an international/global environment.
Objectives
Duration of the Assignment
Negotiable depending on the academic institutions requirements, but preferred a minimum of 10 hours a week, or total of 135 hours during one academic semester.
The work schedule is to be negotiated by the supervising professional and the student for hours that are mutually convenient.
Scope of the Assignment
The participating student’s experiences will be of a professional nature and will be tailored to the student’s interests and to FINCA’s needs. Tasks that might be routinely assigned to clerical and technical personnel may be included, but only to the extent that they contribute to an understanding of the interdependence of the various library functions. The participating student will be exposed to a variety of concepts surrounding international finance and development, and will have the opportunity to work directly with system users to identify solutions and practical applications for FINCA’s knowledge and information management challenges.
Requirements
Ideal candidates will have experience (academic or practical) in one or more of the following; Library Science, Organizational behavior, knowledge management, SharePoint and change management.
Education & Experience
2 years of undergraduate education
1-2 years of research experience
Academic background in Knowledge Management, Organizational Behavior, Information Technology, or related areas preferred.
Language Skills
Fluency English required.
Fluency in second language highly desirable (French, Russian, Spanish)
Computer Skills
Exposure to Share Point and familiarity with corporate Intranets
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Adobe InDesign highly desired
Ability to learn and master new technology systems, as required
