P/T - Book Processing Internship - Lesbian Herstory Archives (Manhattan)

The Lesbian Herstory Archives needs you to help process  a very large book donation this spring.

We are looking for students who have some library school experience or actual experience working in a library.

Students will be supervised by an M.L.S. librarian and other archives staff.
This internship is unpaid but course credit can be arranged.
We are looking for a minimum commitment of 8 hours per week preferably between 9am-5pm.
You will be opening boxes, organizing donated books, cataloging and labeling books and weeding shelves. You will learn the LHA internal cataloging system, become familiar with cataloging via Library Thing and you will learn to prepare books for off-site storage.

Please email lha_interns@earthlink.net  with your availability (days/times) and when you'd be able to start. Also please send a copy of your resume as a PDF file.

You must put the words "Book Processing Internship" in the subject line.
You must be very comfortable using Google Docs, Excel and various databases and content management systems.

We look forward to hearing from you.
Peace,
Désirée Yael Vester
