Archiving Intern, OTTO and AUGUST


The focus of this position is assisting in the management of image submissions, shoot metadata, and key-wording the photography archive of both AUGUST and OTTO syndication agencies.  This is a part-time, unpaid internship.  We are looking for candidates who can commit to 15-20 hours of work per week, Monday-Friday, between 9am-6pm.



Responsibilities:



Support archivists for AUGUST and OTTO in organizing photographer submissions to both agencies:



1.    Review incoming projects, splitting high res and low res files, pulling paperwork and filing where appropriate, renaming documents.

2.    Downloading work from WeTransfers/HighTails/Dropbox/Hard drives, and uploading into our archives.

3.    Baseline key-wording of new projects as they enter the archive, and key-wording older projects as identified by archivists.

4.    Assistance with building our controlled vocabulary, keyword tree and keyword templates.



Qualifications:



·         Affinity for research, archiving, and asset organization.  Must be detail-oriented and highly organized.  A strong visual memory is essential.



·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.  The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, assertive, and driven to get things done.  Must be able to work successfully as part of a team, as well as independently with minimum direction.  An ability to learn on the job, and ask questions openly without hesitation.



·         Interest in pop culture and celebrities, and/or design and architecture is a plus.



·         Familiarity with current digital photography practices greatly preferred.  Appreciation for the craft of photography a must.



·         Must be computer literate in a Mac environment.  Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Photoshop required.  We are looking for applicants who are digitally savvy, and able to pick up and master new platforms with confidence and ease.

Overview
CannonDesign has an exciting opportunity for an Intranet Student Intern to work on a full or part-time temporary basis in our Buffalo, NY or New York, NY offices. The successful candidate will collaborate with our Knowledge Management and Communications team, primarily supporting a special project to update our intranet instance, hosted on the Jive platform. Primary responsibilities will include the following:
 
  • Working with a wide group of teams to update page layouts and archive outdated documents, clean up keywords and structure to enhance search results, and support the revision of an ongoing strategy that ensures the best content is the easiest to access.
  • Work in a diverse setting across multiple markets including corporate, healthcare, and education.
  • Assist with intranet management and archival processes.
  • Work with key stakeholders to enhance the findability of key documents.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Qualified candidates must be working towards a Bachelor or Master in Communications, MLIS or related. Candidates should have strong organizational skills and attention to detail, tech-savvy, an interest in digital asset management, knowledge of taxonomy and archival principles, familiarity with intranets or content management systems, excellent verbal/written communication skills and the ability to work well independently or in a team setting. DESCRIPTION:
 
·         This is a great opportunity for flexible, creative library school students to gain practical experience in a dynamic, urban academic library.
·         The Tech Services Intern will work with the Periodicals librarian and head of Technical Services to process backlog cataloging projects.
·         Part-time schedules will be arranged during Monday – Friday, 10 am to 6 pm. Interns will complete 120 hours of work during the semester.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Required: Enrollment in the Internship course for credit at a Master’s program in library or information services.
·         Preferred: Completion of courses or experience in technical services, cataloging, database searching; experience with library/ information technology; experience in an academic library; excellent computer skills.
