in Information Science, to apply for our year-long fellowship program.

About The Metropolitan Museum of Art Archives
The objective of The Metropolitan Museum of Art Archives is to collect, organize, and preserve in
perpetuity the corporate records and official correspondence of the Museum, to make this material
accessible and provide research support, and to further an informed and enduring understanding
of the Museum's history. The Met’s Museum Archives also works to advise other museum
departments on archive and record keeping initiatives, and to support processing and access to
ancillary archival collections found throughout the museum.
The Met’s Museum Archives is comprised of 125 special collections which extend over 4,000 linear
feet of analog records, as well as extensive digital holdings, which document the history of the
museum. Archives holdings include Board of Trustees records, legal documents, Museum
publications, office files of selected Museum staff and departments, architectural drawings, press
clippings, images, and ephemera. The Museum Archives utilizes ArchivesSpace and Preservica, as
well as TMS for related collection information.

About the Interdisciplinary Fellowship
The Interdisciplinary Fellowship supports scholars whose projects lie at the intersection of various
disciplines and methodologies. It encourages cross-departmental projects that bridge the visual
arts and other disciplines in the humanities and sciences.
We invite proposals for Interdisciplinary Fellowship projects centered in the Museum Archives for
the 2027-2028 fellowship year. The Museum Archives are particularly interested in projects tracing
The Met’s extensive exhibition history that will expand and refine existing datasets and records
groups. An Interdisciplinary Fellow hosted in the Museum Archives would potentially work in
collaboration with The Met’s Exhibitions Office and across all curatorial departments.
An Interdisciplinary Fellowship in the Museum Archives would provide professional mentorship
and exposure to a wide range of activities which will give the fellow a comprehensive
understanding of archival and records management operations within a large-scale museum, while
also pursuing their proposed research project.

Met fellows receive financial support, time for research, exposure to museum work, and
access to Met collections and libraries. Weekly programs and workshops bring fellows
together with Met staff to share ideas, develop professional skills, and discuss current issues
in museum practice.

proposal, and schedule of work.

Center for Book Arts seeks an Academic Year Library Intern
The Center for Book Arts is seeking a Collections Intern for Fall 2026, with the possibility of extending through Spring 2027, to support a range of projects across its collections.. The intern will work closely with the Center’s collections, including the Artists’ Books, Reference Library, and Archival holdings.
There are multiple possible projects for the intern to work on throughout the year:
· Paper Cuts Zine Collection: Cataloging a collection of zines donated by artist and educator Christopher Kardambikis.
· Processing CBA Archives: Auditing and organizing the existing Archives, and cataloging ephemera related to the Center for Book Arts’ history and programming.
· Fine Arts & Reference Collection: Cataloging artists’ books and reference materials awaiting entry into the collection.
· Conservation & Preservation: Constructing custom enclosures for artists’ books and other materials to support their long-term care.
Under the supervision of the Librarian, the intern can also:
· Page and shelve materials for researchers
· Contribute to social media related to collections
· Assist with presentations of materials to visiting classes
· Other library-related projects as needed, including research and outreach
Skills and qualification requirements:
· Currently enrolled or recently graduated student of library and information science, archival studies, museum studies, art history, or comparable field. Currently enrolled MLIS students are strongly encouraged to apply.
· Interest in arts nonprofit libraries and/or artist's books and the book arts
· Ability to work independently
· Knowledge/experience of working with CollectiveAccess or other CMS software, or desire to learn CollectiveAccess
· Ability to identify print processes and/or bookbinding techniques, or a strong desire to learn these a plus
Time requirements:
14 hours (2 full days or a combination of half days) per week. Dates are flexible and can be adjusted in accordance with the intern’s schedule and needs. The fall internship will run from mid-September to mid-December. Please note that while some remote work is possible if necessary, the majority of this internship will take place in-person at Center for Book Arts.
Compensation:
This is an unpaid internship that includes a $1,000 stipend per semester. This internship can qualify for academic credit if desired, and we encourage applications from MLIS students with an internship requirement. Interns also receive 25% off classes and our bookshop.
