P/T - Archival Intern - American Irish Historical Society (Manhattan)

The American Irish Historical Society is seeking an archival intern for the fall semester to assist with our library and archival collections. Located on 5th Avenue across from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Society's library houses more than 10,000 volumes on Irish and Irish American history. The Society's archival collections include 19th century newspapers and journals, institutional records, and the personal papers of political figures such as Daniel F. Cohalan.
 
Tasks will include:
- Cataloging and shelving books
- Sorting archival collections and creating finding aids
- Assisting researchers
- Other projects as assigned
 
The candidate must be currently enrolled in a Master of Library Science program, with a concentration in archives and special collections. Knowledge of Irish history is preferred. Internship hours are to be scheduled during regular work hours, Monday through Friday9am-5pm.
