Our Internship Program: Our 2022 Summer Internship Program is a paid 12-week internship program, scheduled to begin on June 6, 2022. Interns are expected to work full-time throughout the summer, unless otherwise indicated. 

Summer interns will join an intern class consisting of undergraduate and graduate students to work on exciting projects in one of EDC’s many dynamic departments. Summer Interns will also participate in training programs, networking events, and other professional development opportunities over the course of the program.

Our Summer 2022 Internship Program application deadline is Monday, March 14. All materials must be submitted by EOD that date – incomplete or late applications will not be considered.  

Department Overview: The Records Management department is a support department that systematically manages the organization’s records throughout their life cycles. The department ensures company-wide adherence to the records retention schedule and policy and assists staff with records-related requests and education. The Records Management team manages both paper and electronic records by providing detailed records inventory for accurate search and retrieval in our records management database. Interns will learn how to identify EDC records, how records inform the organizations functions and are valuable information assets, how to inventory and review records, and how to use and navigate our database and other records-related resources.

Intern Responsibilities:

  • Inventory physical and electronic company records, such as land sales, site maps, and contractor deliverables, based on NYCEDC Records Management department standards and retention policy.
  • Input new data and normalize existing records data in records management database.
  • Reconcile data and records.
  • Conduct records research for staff.
  • Perform quality control of data entry and data cleanup.
  • Aid Records Management analysts in creating and/or updating policies and procedures, including training materials and metadata standards.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program; recent graduates are also encouraged to apply
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for the mission of NYCEDC
  • Proven ability in using database and presentation tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
  • Proactive and able to work in collaborative, cross-functional teams
  • Must submit a resume and cover letter for the application  
  • Must be able to work full-time and complete the entirety of the 12-week program
  • Must be vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus as defined by the CDC, unless they have been granted a reasonable accommodation for religion or disability
