GreenWorks: Prospect Research Intern Job Description (Donor Support Specialist)

Mission of GreenWorks:

The mission of GreenWorks is to promote sustainable living in low-income communities through education, advocacy and job creation in the green economy.

GreenWorks is a community development corporation that connects schools and workforce development providers with environmental groups and green businesses. We also advocate for environmental education and justice programs to be publicly funded, and work towards building sustainable non-profit organizations and small businesses.

Position Summary:

GreenWorks has an immediate opening for a part-time prospect research and database management Intern. The intern will work with the president and board of directors to develop an annual fundraising plan through effective prospect research and database management systems.

Specifically, the intern will assist with compiling a list of potential foundation, corporate and major donor funding. A special emphasis will be placed on the identification and development of new individual major gifts prospects.

This is a part-time internship position, but could lead to a part-time or full-time position within 3 months. The position will be based in Brooklyn, NY. The intern will report directly to the President.

Responsibilities

Prospect Research

Works with president and development team to implement a prospect research function that will generate prospects for Major gifs, foundations and community initiatives
Coordinate prospect review meetings for staff and board meetings
Maintain the Presidents prospect book and information with up to the minute information

Prospect Management

Works with staff to help develop and implement comprehensive database systems and protocol.
Maintains records both electronic and hard copy.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelors degree and a minimum of 1-3 years experience in research

Experience with databases, especially Raisers Edge or donor systems

Must be detailed oriented

Preferred:

A passion for social justice issues and sustainability

Advanced Research Degree or Masters Degree in Library Science

Individual Major Gifts experience in NYC
