P/T - Archival Internship, National Archives and Records Administration (NYC)


The National Archives & Records Administration (NARA) preserves the vital permanent records of the United States Government. These are records that document the rights of American citizens, the actions of Federal officials, and the national experience. NARA's mission is to ensure continuing access to these records.
The National Archives at New York City is the regional repository for federal documents from New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Our holdings contain records from the Federal Courts, Customs Service, Coast Guard, Navy, Army Corps of Engineers, National Park Service, and more. Our staff accessions, processes, provides access points and makes records available to the pubic both onsite and remotely.
 

Position Description
Intern duties include organization, reformatting, naming and uploading digital files of scanned documents for retrieval.
 

Supervision and Evaluation
Work will be carried out under the supervision of the Internship Coordinator, who will assign projects and review work.
 

Requirements
Students in Archives Management, Library and Information Science, or Records Management who have experience or an interest in learning Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, and Digital Collection Management are encouraged to apply.
 

This is an unpaid intern position. A minimum of one day a week is required.
