Internship opportunity for Graduate Library Student

The Child and Family Center on the campus of The Rockefeller University provides care and early childhood development support for 120 children from 6 months to 5 years of age. The Center has a large collection of children’s books that is not inventoried and lacks an appropriate management system that will allow families to check out materials for use at home.

The Center would like to host a library school student for a semester long internship to address this need. Specifically the Center’s administration would like a library student to investigate and assess software applications, including web based systems, that would be efficient, effective, and inexpensive, and make a recommendation for one of them. Further, the Center would like the intern to establish a system for inventorying the books and creating the database with the recommended application. The goal is to have a functional, simple system for adding and removing books from the inventory, and for tracking books as they are borrowed and returned.
